The Karnataka High Court on Monday, October 25, 2021, issued notice to the state government following a petition challenging a survey about churches in the state. Following this, the Karnataka government has put on hold the proposal to survey churches and Bible societies.

The legal representative on behalf of the petitioners noted that the state’s order of survey “does not explain the purpose of collecting information” while also asking why only churches were being surveyed.

The representatives of the petitioner said, "This would intend to target one community in the guise of data collection and the state doesn't have the power to only adopt a pick and choose method to collect data on churches. The survey was intrusive and seriously interferes with the fundamental right to privacy of religious minorities in the state."

The next hearing is scheduled for 29th November. We request your prayers for a favourable and just outcome in the matter.
